View Full Version : Profile inserts off-centre??

Hi All -

I've created an SHS (square tube) profile which is centred equally around the intersection of the 2 reference planes within the family - the hope being that when I insert the profile it will be at the centroid of the member.
My problem is that when I bring it into a family to use it as a sweep profile it doesn't come in on the centre, it offsets itself both in the x and y directions by some obscure dimension (20mm approx.).
Is there some obscure lesson that has not been relayed through the help files?
Why can I (seemingly) not control the insertion point of this profile family?

TIA

Adam.

Thanks for the reply.........

you were exactly correct! I checked the family and neither of the ref. planes had that box checked. I haven't had a chance to re-use the profile as yet (will shortly) but that would have to be the problem.

Thanks again, much appreciated.

You also want to make sure that when you chose EQ/EQ on your toggle for the out width that that you did not move the center ref plane to create the EQ/EQ value. I had a similar issue with a mullion profile that just slightly off alignment when i placed it on the curtain wall mullion. I was able to trace it back that to the fact that when I choose EQ./EQ on my width dimension for the mullion profile that i hadn't pinned my center ref plane and it moved instead of the outer ref planes moving. Only because i saw it move was i able to figure it out. Once I moved it back and pinned it, then re-created the eq/eq dimensions for the width, did it align properly once it was loaded into the project.
