Hello everyone!

Right now I'm in front of dilemma.. I can't decide weather to use this topography option or not. I added some pictures of questions weather it is possible or not. It would be nice, if some one who is using topography could share his thoughts.

Regards in this sunny day!

No you can't use the pad function in this way and I'm not sure I'd really want it to. What would be the need to have it come back in on itself?

Second one is a no, you can't create tunnels with topo's, however you can cheat and use floors with the warping slab tool to acheive this.

Third one is also a no, while you can modify the sub materials of areas of floors this can't really happen, again I would go with a floor or inplace family with earth material if you need to show this in 3D.

Are you trying to get accurate volumes? If this is the case I would suggest getting a 3D civil package as you will get results alot faster more accurate and less hassle.

AutoCAD Civil 3D would be a much better tool to use. Revit hasn't yet branched out into the "civil world" not properly.

The last time I used pads, I just created the pad as a thin layer placed below my gravel fill layer, with sketch lines drawn on the inside face of the foundation walls. In section, the foundation walls and strip footings still showed on top of the toposurface fill pattern, so it all looked correct.

Thank you guys for information!

Now I understand, that this topo thing in Revit is pretty stiff.. I really hoped, that it will be possible to do all of this, but I see that this is not possible yet. Yes, I was hoping to get the right volumes, and to get right section views.

Guys you mentioned, that autocad Civil 3D would do it better, is it possible to export rvt file to get the same 3D view in Civil?

Patric, can you please, post the picture of your idea?

EDIT: This actually is kind a silly regarding to picture three, that in Revit is no tool, that could fill the foundation pit.. Of course, it is possible to gain it with the hatch, but then what to do in the 3D? Just to make one more topography and place it in another phase? Hmm..

The latest version of Revit Architecture has the ability to export to Civil 3D.

This does not translate to Revit Structure as far as I am aware. Best is to export the file out and try to build it up. Or work with the surveyor drawing from scratch. Which tool you use for volumes is really up to you, most of them work the same and as long as you can get a contour plan out of them.

Civil 3D is ok, but it really needs plug-ins to make it really efficient, I would see whats in your local area first, especially if your using it for this and not corridor or drainage.
