My studio just learned Revit 2009 this semester, and we are using an existing 2-level building shell file to build out the interior of an office space. Many of us are allowing our steel trusses to remain exposed on the ceilings of both levels, but we are having trouble now that we are at the rendering stage--we cannot place light fixtures without a ceiling plane in place, but as I said many of us don't have one beyond the finished underside of the level above. Is there any way to designate this as a ceiling plane so that we can place fixtures? Thanks--

Make an unhosted light fixture - then you can place it anywher in the project.
