View Full Version : Pattern Too Small for Revit?

When the attached pattern is imported at a scale of 1 the pattern is messed. When brought in at a scale of 12 the pattern looks fine (other than being the wrong scale). Does anyone else have trouble importing small patterns. We do a lot of registers with custom patterns so I'd like to find a solution for this. We've used HatchMaker.lsp and Hatchkit with no luck. Thank you.

Hey there,
If I got a dollar for every time I imported a pattern and had to modify the scale......Well, I would still have work, but you get the picture?
Good luck and please share the solution if you find one.

David,

Your model pattern repeats at 1" centers so may be testing the edges of what Revit cares to represent. HatchKit created extra pattern elements so the pattern could load to Revit (at 1:1 scale or greater - as shown attached for scales of 1, 2, 4 and 12) but Revit controls its representation.

Revit appears to extend lines too far. This doesn't happen when I change the pattern to a drafting pattern. It's just the model pattern version that is in error. Thanks.

Here is a blowup of the clover MODEL pattern in Revit 2009.

Ok, so the solution is to create a drafting fill pattern for each scale... 1/2"=1' for interior elevations, 1/4"=1' for plans, and 3"=1' for details... etc. Then create a filled region for each of the three or more situations. Unpleasant workaround. Or just keep the pattern in a template as detail lines and use it when needed forgoing pat files all together.

That's an impressive "feature" to have uncovered.

Those extended lines are about 0.32" - about 10 times the minimum drawn length of 1/32" mentioned in this thread:

I'd love to know why. Possibly a question for the factory.
