View Full Version : Autocad 3d solids generate faces when copied to another drawing

I have found that when copying a 3dsolid object created in one drawing and pasting it into a new drawing, the object then lists references for all the faces (as well as being a solid). This is not a problem, except that when importing the file to viz, it creates individual headings for each object "type" (solid, line, face, etc) contained in the drawing. Unless the "parent" layer is selected, only individual objects are modified when assigning materials etc. Is there a way to stop autocad from creating the face references, or can the import settings of viz be adjusted to generate only the single layer?

Have you try File Link Manager instead of importing? I find it works much better and you only need to deal with the layers.

yeah, I always use file link manager.
Do you know of any settings in this dialogue that will prevent duplication of layers when different object types exist in the model? - for instance if a line (non solid object) is hanging around somewhere, this is referenced as a sublayer in viz
