I just got an e-mail notice from Ebay that the sale had been canceled because, "the intellectual rights owner notified ebay that the sale may infringe on their copyright".
I regret posting the auction here, I thought it was legit. A reseller trying a different marketing technique for instance.
Oh Well.

Thomas, all that was for sale in that auction was the book and the cd's. When you buy software what you're really buying is the permission to use the software, not the books and CD's. It's a legal grey area sometimes if by selling the books & CD's you also transfer the 'permission', however Autodesk's EULA explicitly states that you can't transfer that permission without a written notice from them... you can't even give the software away to someone! :(
Read those EULAs. Commercial Software is the same as sharecropping. There's nothing wrong with that, but you're not 'buying' anything- you're paying for permission to use a resource with the hope that you make more money using it than the overhead of it's cost. There's no 'investment' there no matter how much the salespeople say that word. It's vital for a company to understand this to not wind up in trouble, either by not having enough licenses (pirating) or wasting lots of money on things it either doesn't need or could replace with something free or cheap...
