Not available until the CD comes out.

Maybe if the Revit Team didn't sleep in 'til 10 every morning, they could get some work done.

Seriously though. That's an important feature for renderers. VIZ is a pain to learn, but it beats the heck out of Accurender, in my opinion. Do we know how long for the CD?

Not available until the CD comes out.****, I was *really* counting on that, I have 3 rendering due by the end of the week, guess I'll have to do it the old way :(

That will be available to download around AU time and it will be shipping on the CD.

Ok, thanks. I can wait a month. In the meantime, I'll be lovin' Revit 7.0.

We are interested in getting feedback from people using VIZ and Revit currently.
If you are interested in previewing the Autodesk 2005 VIZ Interoperability Update for Revit, please send an email or PM to me or Christie.

Can you send me a copy of Viz 2005? I'd be glad to help out!

Let me clarify. IF you already have a copy of VIZ 2005 and would like to preview the Autodesk 2005 VIZ Interoperability Update for Revit, with Revit PM or email me or Matt.
Nice try Scott... :-)

Is there a 60 day trial of Viz 2005?

Is there a 60 day trial of Viz 2005?
nope I think it's 30 days

I think it's only a 30 day trial. At least that's what it is with Max 6 & 7, which we've been looking at here.

Just got my hands on the viz plug-in! Haven't had a real go with it, but it works! It doesn't seem to link across the bitmaps, but it does bring across the material definitions, which you can add bitmaps to, but I haven't worked it hard yet. Its far better than the current process of exporting out the dwg & naming layers etc. etc.

I sent an email to tatlin requesting the preview. If I was Autodesk, I would consider rendering a high-profile/high-value marketing area because of the nature of Revit and the nature of the people drawn to Revit. And it's clearly the direction of the future in modeling and design.
BTW...Go Patriots!!!!!!!!!!!!!(21 in a row - broke the wins-in-a-row, broke the regular season wins-in-a-row, gonna get 3-rings in fours years (never been done)). Go Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(we dusted the Evil Empire and targeting that blasted curse now). Go Celti...oh well, stop while you're ahead.

I would like the preview too - it's actually been one of my most anticipated features of the new release.
I use Revit and Max 6 (soon 7), will the plug in viz2005 enable me to export correctly to max?.
I dont have Viz.
Thanks.
Didier.

didier, I too wonder this, for we're looking at using MAX here instead of Viz...
Can we get word about it? Or can I beta test it? ;-) I've got a Max 7 trial right here...

This question regarding Max 6 (soon 7) and the plug-in needs answering.
I have recently upgraded from Viz to Max and would hate to think that I have lost out on the use of this plug-in.
Come on Autodesk - Give us a clue please ?

Hey guys,
Theoretically, the plug-in should work with Max as well as Viz. Both of these applications run on the same code. It's just that Viz's code has been trimmed a little. As long as the two share a capability, they should be able to use the same plug-in. Heck, it works for many other application plug-ins between the two.
My 2 cents.

The Plug in was created and is being tested for VIZ 2005. There are plug-ins that work with both, but really being brutally honest...I can only talk about what we are testing it with and that is VIZ 2005. :-(
I know that doesn't help answer your question definitely.

Reassure me!
This famous plug in will be also downloadable by the users of Max or Revit ?
Not only for Viz users ?

I wish they would release this plug-in soon, it would really make my life easier. I've using Revit and viz together on a near daily basis now.
BTW, here is an interior I just finished, my 3rd one in viz ever, i still need to learn a lot more about materials, and something is wrong with that one RPC lady, plus my furniture models need work...etc

ok, I guess i better show my 1st and second ones.
as you can see i really flubbed the lighting on these, it was a complicated scene to light. Interiors are sooo much harder than exteriors :o

That's an interesting question. I think that it would only work if the Viz Render in ADT shares the same API code that the Full version of Viz does. I don't think it does, so I'm gonna guess that no, it doesn't. It's a plugin for Viz, using Viz's scripting langauge from what I understand. Nothing saying that you couldn't write your own script for AutoCAD/ADT that does the same thing, which in turn would allow you to use Viz Render instead.

Chris I know that you have been using vray with viz. Your Image has a good start but need some improvements on the material side. It is too saturated specially your timber materials.
I know you can do it just a little bit of tweaking and you are there.
Can't wait to see some updates.

Very impressed with the lighting. How long does it take you to set these up after the geometry?

Our designers are just learning Revit. (Slow pace for a designer haha) but right now they do it in Revit, export it to a dwg format, then link it into Viz and apply there materials. this is ok for an exterior scene, but when it comes to interiors, they model and fudge it in viz (yech!) The key word being fudge, then they give it to an architectural person and the cursing begins frome there. If they do it in revit atleast the dimensions would be consistant, and this could avoid the differences, between design, and production.
So to make a long story short, bring on the plug-in we can use it right now.
