What are the steps to edit the out of the box Wall Tag in Revit Architecture 2009? I need a Wall tag that looks like the one in the attached. It is 3/16" square, so I need to rescale the existing one and rotate it . I tried to just edit the family, duplicate and rename, but then I came to a stopping point because when I tried to resize the tag it gave me an error message about the constraints not being satisfied. I don't know how to deal with that. Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you consider building your own?

Select the File pull down then New followed by Family. In the Annotations folder choose Generic Annotation and then open the Family Template.

Draw your symbol centered on the Ref Planes and add a Label for Type Mark.

Save it to your network and then select Load into Projects.

Ok, I think im close. When I get to this window, what should I chose for each entry? So I should add an instance parameter? Group name? etc? See attached.

Thanks!

My apologies...I skipped a step.

Before you place a tag go to the Settings pull down menu and scroll down to Family Category and Parameters.

Here you want to change the Family Category to Wall Tag.

Now when you place a tag the parameters for Mark and Type Mark will be available.

Awsome. I'm starting to be a Reviteer! Ok, back to reality :)

I created the Wall Tag and it seems to be working ok, but the Tag line seems to be quite long when I drop the tag on walls. Where is the length controlled for that? See pdf's, PDF "wall tag 3" shows the screenshot where I created the tag, pdf "wall tag 4" shows the tag being dropped in on a plan.

Thanks!

Try selecting the tag in plan and you should see a 4-way directional arrow.
Use that to shorten and lenghtin the leader line and adjust the location.

Let me know if that works for you.

I was able to do that, I was just wondering if the was the ability to assign the length within the family definition. Thanks!!!

You can not set it in the family as far as I can tell.

But when you insert a tag the options bar gives you a dimension value that you can set.
See attached screen image.

Keep in mind that the dimension value is the 1 to 1 full size printed value.

Thanks! That helps.
