Hi everyone,
How would i go about modelling this facade - its going to be 1200 x 1200 x 9mm sheet fixed to subfraning fixed to structural frame. I'm not so worried about the strucutural frame. Its more the sheeting & subframe i want to model - so when i cut sections it shows on the slope & horizontal. I am ok with making a ceiling type for the soffits.
Would you do the horizontal sill as a floor?

All help appreciated
THe "mass" is a in place wall

I recently did a custom blob as a family. You might want to try that route. That way you can model all the components using solid and void tools, and don't have to worry about parts of your assembly being a floor, parts being a ceiling, and parts being a soffit or a wall. The epiphany is a family can be any size, and can be a one-off element, not necessarily something you repeat in the model. The nice thing about a stand-alone, as opposed to in-place, family, is easier modeling outside the project file, and better access to parametric features.

I agree to make a family, however THEN i would apply Walls-by-face / Roofs-by-face to the mass family, so that the correct system objects are in place.

Thanks guys, yes what i have now done is:
edited in place family, select all & copy to clipboard
start new generic mass family file & paste from clipboard
make sure family type is mass
load into project
use face as wall from the massing tools, add ceiling & floor for the horizontal elements (same structure & finish as wall)
