I am trying tp add a parameter to the stacked wall system family. I am doing this so the stacked wall can be tagged and have the tag read our wall type designation that we are going to use. Since a stacked wall is two walls combined, I am having some difficulty with this. it will add the parameter to normal walls, but not the stacked walls. has anyone come across this and found a workaround or fix for this?

If stacked wall "C" is comprised of Basic Walls "A" and "B," tagging wall "C" will display the type mark from either wall "A" or wall "B," depending on which portion of the stacked wall is cut in your view.

To make it work for you, I would duplicate the basic wall families and edit/new to create independent wall types that are used only in your stacked wall family. Then you set the stacked wall's type mark in those two basic wall families and your wall tags will read correctly.

Yeah, stacked walls dont get identity data like basic walls do. Rather, its JUST a compilation of the basic walls.

I would love it if Stacked Walls could become *their own entity,* as well as Model groups, hehe...

you should be able to add a basic text parameter to identity dat, and have it show up in both the basic walls and stacked walls, I would think.

The Stacked Wall doesnt "have" identity data though. It is literally, just a culmination of the two (or more) basic walls.

If you go in both the Instance and Type parameters of a Stacked wall, there isnt even an Identity Data field or genre. If you add a new parameter to the wall catagory, it will go to the basic walls, but will not show up for the Identity Data.

Ill hope for it in the future. :)

Doesnt work that way. when you create the stacked walls, it doesnt carry over the type mark for the individual walls you are using. it just brings over the basic construction information for the walls so you can set the heights. also, you cant choose which portion of the wall to tag when placing a tag.

It works that way on my machine... If you select the stacked wall and go to its element properties, you won't find its type mark parameter anywhere. That is because "type mark" is read from the basic wall family. When you tag the wall, it will read the properties from whichever portion is cut in view. This is why you need to set the same type mark for both basic wall families that comprise the stacked wall.

that was my problem, i didnt have the same type mark set in both wall types, my bad. nice, i guess that is what we will have to do for the stacked walls so that they will tag correctly.
