Request:

- Let us connect to MEP elements in linked files.
- Let us schedule elements in linked files.

The workflow of large projects in one file is unsustainable, and when we split up the file into linked versions, our capacity for coordination and scheduling gets screwed up hardcore.

For example, I need to be able to schedule mechanical equipment linked in another file, but ALSO be able to add my own custom parameters to that piece of equipment. This way the mechanical engineer isnt bogged down with my electrical design and vice versa. However, I also need to be able to use her mechanical data in my electrical.

What's this? Our own MEP forums moderator is posting to the wish list without following the rules (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=36308)???

I have a powerful urge to vote that I can't live without this - but there is no poll.

BTW - this bit is already available - see the screenshot

uh, uh...

I don't know what you are talking about!

P.S.
I missed that little box, but its existence makes me very happy. Thanks for pointing that out.

If there was some sort of connectivity feature between links I could cut down on performance issues within my model by light years. However, then there is also the issue of when I want to add parameters into a mechanical equipment, but can't when it is in another link. I suppose that would need to be addressed to.

I'll vote at least 6 stars on this one.

Anyone who attempts to have Architects, M engs, P engs, & E engs working in the same Revit project using many worksets to govern editing permissions will find VERY quickly that this scenario is impossibly chaotic. Revit performance increases dramatically and editing requests diminish almost to zero when you break that project up into 3 or 4 linked models. Of course then the coordination benefits of Revit are diminished.

Autodesk should in the NEXT release allow linking to connectors between linked models as well as tagging thru the link. It is perfectly apparent that this can easily be done since they have already accomplished this with the space-room link (each space added over a linked room will pick up all the room data created in the arch model). This of course will improve Revit performance dramatically AND allow real time coordination between disciplines.
