I have a residential remodel I'm working on, and I'm starting by drawing the existing conditions. I hope there is an easier way to do this, don't laugh now- but I have been adding everything, (walls, doors, windows, plumb. fixtures, etc.), then, after adding, selecting each one individually and changing it's phase created to existing, phase demolished to new construction. How do I, or can I, just set something so that everything I add is automatically set this way until I change it.

Duplicate the floor plan, and in the View Properties, towards the bottom of the dialog box, you set the Pase to Existing, and the Phase Filter to Show All. Then anything you create will automatically be on the existing phase, and the view will only ever show the existing phase, no demo, no new work.

Hey there,
To expand on this, create another plan called "Demolition" and set it's view properties to New Construction. Any item you demo on this plan will be set to New Construction phase.
Good Luck
Steve

Specifically - the "Phase Demolished" setting will be set to New Construction for existing objects demo'd in that view.

I like to use the Demolish tool with the little hammer icon. It's like I'm busting up stuff, but without making a mess.
