We have a project that will be built in phases. The toposurface is in the project, not linked in. We have created pads for the various phases, and made sure the properties of the pad were correctly associated with the proper phase. When showing a 3D view of the project for the first phase, the toposurface has a hole cut out of it where the pad for for the 2nd phase has been placed.
Any way to setup the view so that the phase display settings control the hole in the toposurface?

Perhaps you need to do a separate graded region for each phase of the project.
So you have your existing topography on the existing phase, then you do a graded region on phase 1, copying internal points from the existing topography. Grade as required for the first phase and place the pad.
Then on Phase 2, do another graded region, and copy internal points from the topography on phase 1. Grade that one as required, or if all grading is done in Phase 1, just leave it be and use that topo only for the new pads on Phase 2.
Repeat for future phases.
I'm not sure how well this would work, just thinking about it. One issue is that you might have to copy any pads from Phase 1 to Phase 2, and so on for future phases. I'm not sure if the Graded Region tool will bring existing pads forward from previous phases or not.
