Must have been a leak in the AU version?

don't have that either... interesting, GuyR's probably got whatever they released as R7 'down under' too, and he's seeing some electrical/mechanical things we're not...

Mine has it. Here's a pic.

I had the same view as muttlieb, including the double structural entries, but when I closed the project and opened a new one, it was gone.

Seems to only be there when you first open 7.0. in a blank file.

Close project and open a new one, the entries disappear. Close revit and re-launch, they return.

Yep - would say cat slipped out the back door of the factory.

Scot, pic attached. Had the double Structural when I first saw it, that disappeared - but the Mech and Elec have remained. I checked them all to see if there was anything else was revealed!!

Sorry - still waking up!! See new pic!! Tried to enhance image!

Nop, same as everyone else. The AU/NZ templates might have some different settings though.

Given the files in the program directory I'd say the more likely explanation is beta testers are using a V7 build with MEP enabled. This suggests MEP is getting usable in projects so perhaps not too far away?

And I'd bet one of those users goes by the letters S O and M.

There are some Excel templates and XML files in Program directory which indicate future venture into building science and more elaborate cost control (see "Constructions XML)

No, the .xslt files are stylesheet files for generating (by the looks of it) HTML from XML. Constructions.xml seems to be HVAC related and costs is the costworks stylesheet. Not sure why that's there given costworks is no longer included.

What about the ASHRAE folder in the Revit Programs folder?

ita
2004-10-27, 03:21 AM
Scott, I have thought about that and I assumed that it was related to the sunshine and shade tables for the shadows - but then again I am probably very wrong.

What data source do you guys use for sun angles/sunrise/sunset etc for passive/active solar comps etc inthe states/North America?

Why is it in the download cabinets then?? Hmmmm!!

Humm…. Did the cat out really slipped or was the knot intentionally loosened. Kind of makes ya wonder.

This is what Sr5-3.tbl looks like in the ASHRAE folder...it definitely appears to contain details regarding geometry and efficiency of pipes (Idelchik refers to the Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance by that author)...maybe for automatic pipe sizing...just guessing.

Site.dll
2208 KB

Structural.dll

Try this...

Go to Visibility/Graphics and scroll down to Structural...

Notice new categories for Structural Loads, Structural Load Cases...

It's getting exciting!!

"analytical model" under several catagories, including walls and various structrual catagories......of course, it's unchecked at this point......wonder what happens if I check it on?

Hmmmmm....adds a green line to walls that are bearing, shear, or structural combined at the center of the structural core.

I figure the developers are rolling about laughing at the moment.

This is sort of like watching your kids on an easter egg hunt!

They probably had a bet going on how many hours from release of V7 before this thread started :-)

Off topic but just returned from a very inspiring talk by Peter Stutchbury. Fantastic work and the level of detail was amazing. One project was 1400 sheets!!!

I spent a week with Stutch last summer at the Murcutt Masterclass. His work is incredible isn't it. What project is he working on that is 1400 pages?

Bay House. It was a completed project which in his words had a large budget. The systems they developed for it like the copper tube louvres/heat exchanger were very clever, worked and beautifully detailed. The recently completed shearing shed was another example of attention to detail on a budget.

I doubt it. Stutch's office uses vectorworks on Macs and he only does hand sketches.

Here's some images of the Bay HouseYep, that's one of the houses I went through. Your right, the level of detailing was exhausting, but many of the details were worked out in the field with a sketch book. That is probably what he was referring to. A 3" binder full of hand drawn sketches that were done during construction.

You should check out Richard Leplastrier, another great Australian architect who was a teacher of Peter's. They worked together on the new Aboriginal Center at the University of Newcastle.

I've always loved the architecture of the Aussies and the kiwis.

You should check out the Glenn Murcutt Masterclass. It's not cheap, but definitely worth it.

Well I'm using it now :-) Officially I haven't heard, but I'd say within the next 60 days... They are doing a presentation in Dorkland on thursday. Not sure if it's touring.

Thanks Guy R, no the Revit preso on 7 is only in JAFA land, so in Welly, we get nothing.
Look forward to the electrical design bar stuff later.

I double clicked on a family to open it, and just for a second while it is loading there is a button labeled "add connector" in the design bar... It goes away once the family is loaded

Interesting...
