If you have a stub wall 4’ tall what needs to be adjusted to be able to have your plan cut through it?
View Range
Top offset at 7’6”
Cut plane at 2’
Bottom level at 0”
Top and bottom at –associated Level First Floor
Why can’t I get it to cut through that wall?
It should work right?

Oh if i change the bottom offset to below level
than it shows up
Still doesn t make sense thought

Unconnected walls below 6'-0" will be shown with their "projection" settings regardless of the Cut Plane. I've read this value was 5'-8", but in my testing it is 6'-0"in 2009 and 2010. Try creating a level (without a plan view) representing the 4' height of the wall. Then connect the wall height to the level. It should then respect the Cut Plane.

I always wondered why this limitation occurred...
Nice Tip...

I am not experiencing the 5'0 rule. Just created a new wall in the floor plan view with View Range set
top 7'6
Cut 4'
Bottom and depth 0. Wall shows as cut at anything above 4'
Create a similar wall with the top being Level 1 + 4' offset and it shows as projected. Change the offset to 4' 1" and it shows as cut.
Never seen the behavior Mark posted.

Chris, have you tried experimenting with unconnected walls above and below 6'-0" from the level? Unconnected walls below 6'-0" ignore the cut plane value and display with outside lines only and with the projection settings versus the cut settings object style.

Applying a plan region at the wall in question. You can adjust the bottom and cut plane of the plan region to show what you're after. Set the bottom to the level below. Set the cut plane to the current level as you did before with an offset of 2'. This tricks Revit into ignoring the 6' wall height limitation (I verified that it still exists in 2009). You will need to be careful that the edges of the plan region start and stop at an appropriate place along the wall.

Not on my system. All walls respect the cut plane in all views at all levels of detail

Then you should share your magic template with everyone else. :)

Does not appear to be template related.
However the real issue here is not to use unconnected walls for more reasons than just this

This riddle is bugging me. The attached image shows my settings. I wonder if you follow this, does your unconnected wall behave as mine does.

Mark,
Yes if I set my Bottom to 0 it does. However I have never done that so I would never have seen this behavior. If I have an unconnected wall less than 6' (I think) with the Bottom set to 0 then I get the same behavior. It is the bottom setting that seems to control this not view depth. BUT if I set my wall to Level 1 + 5' it looks fine. My Normal floor plans have a -1' offset on the Bottom and depth AND I do not use unconnected walls. Seems like that would be the way to go to prevent this problem. Almost sounds like a bug that never got fixed.

Thanks for clearing that up.
