I just tried exporting shape files from Map 3D 2010 and get message that export did not succeed. I can import shape files but cannot EXPORT lines, points, or polygons. I noticed that the Icon for the shape file has the letter A in it. Not sure if this is related but since the install of Map 2010, My ArcView software brings up a window stating that windows is configuring AutoCad Map 3D 2010.

Any ideas?

No problem here on exporting.

Are you making sure that all of your items have been 'picked up' in the export? I.e. nothing has been filtered out?

If you are exporting POLYGONS you need to check the "Export Polyline as Closed Polygons" box in the export dialog. If you dont you get this error.

This is worth a try even though you did state lines and points dont work either.

I am having the same problem.
I get "0 object(s) of 1141 selected, exported in 0 sec(s)."

If I open my drawing back up in 2008 and do a map export it will work, but does not in 2010??

I see that I should follow up on my post. Thanks for all of the replies! I have been exporting shape files for over ten years so am familiar with most of the little tricks. My guess is that I had a bad install, which has happened before. My solution, was to revert back to my older revision of Map. Secondly, I also did not like the way Map 10 locked up a folder, which might be fixed with an option setting. Thirdly, AutoDesk and ESRI installations seem to fight each other with DLLs so I need to always upgrade my ArcView after the Map and not the other way around.

I have the same problem, I've exported SHP files before hundreds of time. Now I have the same message after I click OK in the selection/data window.
