Hi all, see attached image.
I draw a brick veneer wall base constraint is ground level. i attach wall footing and the footing is at the base of the wall - i extend the exterior side base of the wall down and the footing stays up at the "base" level

Footings don't attach to just a portion of the wall. By the appearances, there is a stud portion to the wall, and it is attached at the top of the floor. The footing is seeing the primary portion of the wall remaining at one level, si it is staying at that level. It does not recognize an "extension" of only part of the wall.

Yes but it behaves on other walls in same view. So with a bit of fiddling i found this:
the wall it wasn't behaving on was "butt" joined to its adjacent wall - this was not evident in plan - only showed up in 3d. this wall had the footing up at slab level.
when i changed wall join condition to "mitred" - bingo the footing dropped done to where it should be.
Also drag the wall base away from the slab and the footing jumps back to the wall base. sitting wall base on slab seems to invoke an exception for the footing.
