Just shows that a hyper level of realism isn't always what's called for, sometimes a more illustrative approach works better. CG Architect had an interview with a guy who just does Photoshop, doesn't even Render, and yet does much better work than many I've seen: http://www.cgarchitect.com/upclose/article1_AHIC.asp

It's still about communication, after all, not pretty pictures. ;)
