Well, I tried to do what I usually do with a new version. That is: learn the new features by continuing to work on an existing project and refer to a tutorial here and there if I get stuck. I'm getting stuck in too many places so I'm just going to have to do all the 2010 tutorials before I can get some real work done. I can't afford to spend so much time figuring this out on the fly.

I dived into an existing project and it is surprising how painful it is to learn a new way of doing things.

The 'Where is my command' feature on the Help menu is OK as long as you can remember the menu structure of 2009.

Much better but still a work in progress is this flash-based tool where you can click on the icon in 2009 and it shows you where that command is in 2010.

hehee... I've been reading 'the inmates are running the asylum', so I reserve the right to use the term 'cognitive friction'. Technical translation: if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features. Simple translation: a tornado wrecked my toolshed.

Anyhow. Where there's friction, we need lube. Even if this release compares to having a baseball bat shoved up your backside.

that's a great tool! Autodesk, please take note, this is the kind of upgrade support we expect from the leading BIM company.
