Hello,

I'd like to do a project showing only the stud walls, 2x4's 2x6's etc., without any sheathing using Revit 2008. Has anyone figured this out or have I simply over looked an obvious method? I'm fairly new at it but can make my way around Revit a bit. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

There may be any easy way that I do not know.
My only suggestion would be to create different wall types for framing and for sheathing/finishes. This way you can easily turn off specific wall types, showing only your framing layers.

Paul,

If you mean showing the studs individually at 16" or 24" o.c. as cut rectangles
with the "x" thru them--the short answer is no.

Revit does not actually model all the studs within the wall.

You can use detail component groups to show these in detail views--
but I would not recommend doing this for an 1/8" or 1/4" scale plan.

You can, however, create a wall with only the stud layer, say 3 1/2" thick
or 5 1/2" thick, and give the structure a wood stud component in the wall properties.
This will not show the individual studs.

If you are just showing studs and plates you could do it with curtain walls.

My thanks to all of you. I will try the curtain wall too.

I pondered a similar situation a while back, and found a way by making a generic model line based family, which when made correctly, you can just draw lines of wall studs at whatever centres you require.

You incorporate the array parameter to array your studs to your required spacings etc.

If you don't require 3D, you can just use the line based detail componant in a similar way.

Only thing, is that I am unsure of Revit 2008 being able to utilise those types of families? I know that it is possible in 2009.

Have a look a Phillip Miller's thread here...

This might help?
