Layer Freezing Problem

I have been using AutoCAD for a long time, and this morning it started doing something I've never seen before! I created a few new layers and 4 of them will not freeze no matter what I do. Freezing using the Layer Freeze Button does not work and neither does freezing in the Layer draw down menu or the Layer Properties Manager. I can user Layer Isolate to turn them off, but once I do that, I can no longer get them back on. Also, two of the layers are empty so I tried deleting them, but they only remain deleted for half a second and then they appear again. The layers are not locked and I've tried shutting down AutoCAD and the computer to fix it. I've never had anything quite like this happen before, so any advice that you all could give would be wonderful!
