automatic connection of pipes using WYE in plumbing/waste water system
hello,
ehhhhhhhhh I have several problems with MEP and the most important is:
1) is there any way to set in plumbing/waste water instalation:
- Wye (45 degrees) instead of Tee (90 degrees) as a default for connecting two waste water pipes?
2) is there any way to connect properly one waste water pipe to another waste water pipe but on different elevation - and than the best would be if it was possible with WYE as a default
see attached drawings to know what i mean
in few words i wont to connect the green pipe to blue one automatically using 2x45deg elbows and WYE but i receive sth that is on picture nr 2.......
On picture nr 3 there is almost perfect but i had to change TEE for WYE manually and the automatic connection didnt work very good:cry:
Re: automatic connection of pipes using WYE in plumbing/waste water system
so I guess that this is not possible, yes?

Yes, now AME still can't support draw an elbow with 2 fittings.
While, I think you can swith to left or right view when drawing layout, and pick point twice to make 2x45 deg elbows.
As for the tee replaced with wye, we can configurate it on pipe routing preferences. Change default tee fitting from the 90 deg tee to what you want.

hmmmm
Take a look at "AutoCAD MEP 2010 Piping Basics" by William Spier

Can you see how beautifull its working. Admittedly I think that he is using USA content and PVC pipes for sewage which i dont have in my Global content, but anyway it works prefect. Every thing i want is on that movies but i cannot achieve it on my AC MEP global content. I can do sth like on movies (but not such perfect) when i switch to US imperial profile. The problem is that I'm a beginner maybe.
Re: automatic connection of pipes using WYE in plumbing/waste water system
Hello maciek,
I have got the same problem, how to use 2 45deg elbows instead of 1 87deg or 90deg.
I found a trick, it's not a real solution, but it's working:
I defined a new routing preference,
There I selected for the ellbows the "double ellbow 45deg" from the cast iron pipe (DACH content).
You have to select that one without calming line.
If you're now designing a pipe with a 90 deg ellbow, it will take this one and it has the same sizes and looks like 2 45 deg ellbows.
For me, it's acceptable, because in a layout with 1:50 nerly no one could see the difference.

Hey Joeycool,
I must admitt that is a great idea with this double-elbow part and it works!!
But still the problem with WYE exist. Whatever I set the routing perferences to WYE or TEE i would not obtain such a beautifull connection effect like on the movies from William Spier
Re: automatic connection of pipes using WYE in plumbing/waste water system
i assume youre drawing with "piping" since you have 3d images.
try to follow with me and see if this helps:
-goto the "manage" tab
-click style manager
-open "piping objects" drop down
-open "pipe part routing preferences" drop down
-click on whatever system you are drawing with (generic threaded or ???)
-to the right of the style manager now, click on "preferences" tab
-now you see the default fittings it wants to use for each type of fitting
-see if you can change the "tee" fitting to something like "sanitary tee"
its hard for me to say because i dont know exactly how the global library is setup,
but if you follow the directions, it should get you in the right neighborhood (if i understand you correctly)
hope this helps, please ask questions if not.
