User Defined I-Properties
Currently my company uses several custom Iproperties for use in the BOM, things like stock description, drawing number, amongts others.
Currently when we create a drawing, and edit the parts list, we use substitution to change to the new property fields. The downside to this is in the templates we have set up, we have to manually type in the custom I-Property.
In the pull down list, there is a section called "user Properties". Is it as simple as opening the maine template, adding the I-Properties and then saving the template?

Re: User Defined I-Properties
Yes. I created a user property called "Developed_Length" and modified the parts list. This is a brief description of how I did it...
Start the "Styles Editor" (Manage tab > Styles and Standards panel) from within the template. Create/modify a parts list and define the user property(s). Enable substitution for the UNIT QTY column, browse to and select the user property, and set row merge to "First Value". Enable substitution again for the QTY column, browse to and select your user property, and set row merge to "Sum Of Values". Repeat for each user property. Save changes.
RMB on the modified parts list and select "Save to Style Library". Select the Standard you want the changes to apply to. Click on the "Available Styles" tab. In the "Styles Type" column. Select "Parts List", and place a check mark next to the modified parts list. Click "Done".
Click "Update" in the "Styles and Standards" panel to ensure the changes are saved to your template.
This is a specific case for a specific purpose, but you should be able to modify the parts list for any custom property.
Let us know how you fare..
Re: User Defined I-Properties
Hello, I need additional help with this one. I have an assembly that has multiples of one item, and in the "parts list" it shows qquantity of 1 for each item.
Also for each part in the assembly I would like to customize the iProperty to include functions that would show steel size & length and that information to populate in the parts list.
Thank you in advance.
