Objects on layer not displaying in host drawing.

Objects on a layer don't display in an attached external reference. If I open the external reference and create a layer, using any name, and then reload the external reference in the host drawing, the objects display. If I delete the newly created layer in the external reference and reload, the objects disappear. There is no connection between the new layer and the objects. I can repeat this action numerous times. Also, if I hide or delete an xclip associated with the attached external reference, the objects show back up. There are no layer states or filters in either drawing. Also, this behavior is nonexistent in the same drawings using AutoCAD 2022. We can open the host drawing in 2022 and see everything, as normal. But, on two different machines using 2024, we get the behavior as described above.

BTW: I tried to submit a case using the AI Assistant on the Autodesk support page. It tells me to fix the errors below, but doesn't show any, and I don't see any. Thus, I can't submit the case.
