If you open an existing electrical component (from the Revit Architecture library) you will see some that are in stock...if you open it, you will see how that component is created.
Depending on what you are doing, you might have a geometric object and a annotative symbol, that will always be to printed scale. Those components are a bit mixed, but you will find the majority in having an annotation symbol (printed scale) nested inside the electrical family with geometry and lines (Actual Life size)
