Physical properties
hi!
I'm fooling around with Inventor v10. Now, I'd like to find out how much my assembly weights. Anyhow, no matter what I choose "as material" to the parts, it claims the density to be 1.000E-006 ( kg/( mm^3 ) ). Why?! Previosly there were proper densities for materials such as steel and plastic. Do I have to set the materials somewhere else than from the color menu, or is there a setting for that? or, is it possible to somehow edit the physical properties of the materials?
please tell me if U know something! thanks!

RE: Physical properties
hey there, welcome to the augi forum
you have to set the material in part modus, and if you set the material by the drop down box at the upper right of inventor, that is the material color.
To set the real material, go to pull downmenu file -> Iproperties -> tab Materials, and give in the actual material there. It is here where you can see its desity and weight as well.
If all your parts have a density off 1,000000, your part template probably has a material defined with that density, and you change that to a material you commly use, so when creating a part, it allready had the right material

Yes, thank you.
I'm going to propose as many stupid questions as I have the nerve to. We have a 3D-cad-teacher here at work but he doesn't seem to know everything, either, and is besides always on a holiday. :)
so thanks a lot!
