RE: Family types in families
Try flexing each parameter tied to a dimension to see what errors you get. They have to be resolved before you can continue. Typically they are constraint issues. A good practice is to just dimension to reference planes, flex these to make sure you get the expected results, & then construct the solid geometry, constrained to the reference planes.
If you can't figure it out, post the family & someone will help you.
RE: Family types in families
aliya,
I have found that there are times this occurs if you origionally create the parameter names in the family editor and give those params numerical values that do not match the values created on the drawing, you can get this type of error message.
In those events, unlink the dimension to the param name. change the Family Editor value to zero and then apply the param name. In some cases there may be different dimension values requiring the same param name in the sketch. If that happens, unlink the names in the sketch, set all the dimesions in the drawing requiring that name to the same dimesion value, set the Family Editer name to a zero value and then reapply the param name.
Also, I usually find this happens if the sketch is really not constructed properly or there is some "flaky" construction logic in the dimensioning. Make sure you give the dimensions space to flex.
A further trap for beginners (and I did this a lot 8) ) and that is to dimension the same object more than once in different views. For instance you may dimension the cabinet height in a rear elevation and a side view - doing that will create the same error maessage.

Thanx to u both ,reference lines was the problem, solved it.
