Course Description: Identifying the appropriate configuration of the injection gates, as well as the optimal injection parameters, is a critical step when designing an injection process with respect to the final performances a plastic part shall exhibit. Those manufacturing parameters significantly affect the final performance of plastic parts through the final fiber orientation state, the residual stresses induced in a part after cool down, the non-uniform temperature field once the part comes out of the mold, and finally, by the potential presence of weld lines in the part. Autodesk® Moldflow® is used by plastic engineering to effectively and efficiently design the injection mold, and to optimize the manufacturing of the part for efficiency and quality. The nonlinear micromechanical material modeling technology available in DIGIMAT, and the associated multi-scale algorithms and solution procedures, leverage Autodesk Moldflow results further into the structural analysis of the end service performance of the plastic part.
