CV3400-4P: Caffeinated Grading

Class Description: Grab a Venti Mocha or a Red Bull; you’re going to need it to keep up! This high-octane class is led by David Garrigues (Mr. Caffeine) of Kimley-Horn, Glen Albert (Mr. Feature Line) and Chris Putnam (Mr. Grading), the lead programmers from Autodesk on all things grading. The first part of the class explores the ins-and-outs of how Surfaces and Feature Lines actually work. After a firm understanding of the surface object model we will get into Feature Line creation and editing commands, and the 20+ tools associated with them. We will then take a comprehensive look at Grading Groups and explore Grading Criteria and how to create, edit and manage actual grading projection items. We will take a look at some of the most commonly used scenarios and, most importantly, those pesky problem areas. Other stimulating topics include Surface Smoothing and how to properly use Infills.
