Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
Windows 7 Ultimate, Navisworks Manage 2011. 3 monitors, left to right 1, 2, and 3. I run NW on #2 in the middle.
I had an NWF made up of several dwgs appended to an NWC from Revit. The screen started behaving oddly, and ultimately the mouse would disappear from the model portion of the Revit screen, and reappear in the upper left hand corner of monitor 1. I could sneak the mouse over on the windows bar at the bottom, but as soon as I moved it up to the model space it would vanish and reappear in the upper left of M1.
So today I rebuilt the NWF with the NWC and dwgs and got them all aligned. Everything is trucking along and then I get a windows message that it's having trouble with the colors, and then it tells me it's reverting to windows classic. No problem, keep working, start running clashes. Now I'm getting intermittent issues with pan, zoom box, etc. I can zoom box but the program zooms on a completely different area of the model. Or I can use the scroll wheel to zoom when using the pan tool and get no effect, in or out. Control cube just vanished as I was typing this.
Are these known issues with an easy fix? I have two projects with major deadlines on this and everything is hinging on the coordination, and I'm dead in the water right now.

When was the last time you updated video drivers?
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
My IT checked that and says they are all up to date.

So the next question: 32- or 64-bit OS? It sounds like a memory issue since the graphics are degrading over a period of time.

Ok, rather waiting for me to ask yet more questions about your setup, why don't you post your system specs?
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
Got this from IT.
Core i7 920 (2.66 Ghz),
12GB DDR3 triple-channel RAM,
2 ATI FireGL V5600 Cards,
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
1 Attachment(s)
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
This issue is still recurring. Could it be that one of the various files from the trades are corrupted or otherwise causing the problem?
Yesterday I began re-building the model, starting with a .wrl file from the steel sub, then adding a .dwg of the lights from the electrical sub, and a .dwg from the fire protection sub. This opened fine, and I got them all aligned. No problems. I then added the plumbing .dwg and all hell broke loose again.
This morning I took the SLF (steel, lights, fire) model and added the duct .dwg and the mechanical pipe .dwg again seemingly without issue. I now have an SLFDM model. I added the plumbing .dwg again and again the display problems started.
I am attaching a screen shot here of the plumbing model opened in CAD. I am NOT a CAD guy by any means, I'm a construction guy, so I don't know if there is some obvious reason I'm missing for the plumbing model corrupting everything. This is exactly how it looks when I open it.
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
Well, it sounds like you are narrowing it down. Is the pipe drawing done using CAD-Pipe? Has the original author of the DWG audited the drawing and provided an NWC?
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
Got them to send me an NWC, and the NWC is causing the exact same problem!

Ugh. Send the NWC to Autodesk's tech support and get their take on the issue.
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
Got the sub to clean up the dwg, and then the nwc, and it finally worked.
Now I'm on to a new set of issues and both Navisworks and Revit both are crashing out.
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
So I'm being told I can't run Autodesk products with two video cards? I'm not sure why it was working fine prior to all of the 2011 versions, but now I'm crashing out on both Revit and Navisworks, and I'm only running Revit on one screen.
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
Whole computer crashed out requiring a complete system wipe and reinstall. Even removed the second video card. Now Navisworks is lagging horribly, takes forever to load a .nwf, and then locks up with a blank white screen and the view cube vanishes.
Good times!

You may want to define "can't run with two cards". I'm pretty sure Navisworks doesn't take advantage of SLI/Crossfire. Maybe somebody was summarizing a posting from the AutoCAD 2011 forum about Windows XP not having hardware accelleration on a second monitor?
Re: Having graphic and interface issues with NW2011
Hi. Can anyone help me with making a navis model form my PDS project?
I would be appreciat it if you would help me.
