Door location based on rooms?
I once watched a video for a door family that contained a non-printing spline "wire" that one could drag into rooms to place a door's location for scheduling. So if you could choose which space or room on either side of the door might appear as the door's location on a schedule. Does anyone know where that video resides on youtube??? Or, is this a special door family created by a third party?
Thanks!
Re: Door location based on rooms?
I'm not aware of the video, but I believe what you are describing is a newer feature called "Room Calculation Point" (I don't know exactly when it was introduced to Doors). In the Family Editor for the Door Family, go to Family Category are Parameter, and enable that option. These point will determine the location of the Family once loaded into the Project, but they cannot be adjusted on a instance-by-instance basis in the Project though; these are adjusted for the entire family.
Google "Revit Doors Room Calculation Points" and you may be able to find your video again.
Re: Door location based on rooms?
It is a new property of a door family called: Room Calculation Point introduced in Revit 2014. It changes the way Revit regards the relationship between a door and adjacent rooms. The direction of the RcP indicates the To Room value regardless of the swing orientation. This POST at RFO describes it's behavior if you're interested.
Re: Door location based on rooms?
Oh...that's it...Sadly, it's not adjustable on an instanced level but the Room Calculation Point is adjustable on a Family level...sure would be nice if it was available on an instanced level!
