AutoCAD MEP 2015 Black Welcome Screen & Help Screen at Welcome

I've got an issue with the welcome screen. Recently the screen on my laptop has become blacked out. It's also the same with the help screen if accessed from the welcome screen. I've seen the post in the Autodesk web site that talks about unchecking the "Access Online Help if Available" under the Options => System tab. This "fix" has not worked for me. Any ideas on how to get back the welcome screen showing the create and learning areas?
