pipe weight in the spec

Hi all,

I am just starting with Plant3D after many years in other software and was just looking at writing a pipe spec and noticed that default settings for pipe weight is lb/ft. I cannot find a switch or toggle that allows me to have this weight in metric. (I still want to keep the pipe bore as imperial. Similar to that of Cadworx metric specifications)

Any assistance would be great.

Also does anyone have some good learning reference material online or a link to a good book on both P&ID and plant?

Hi Scott, there are a few solutions you could explore:

1.Visit the Autodesk App store, I think there is a Metric ASME catalog available for purchase, although:

2.It sounds like all you want are metric lengths and weights but imperial pipe diameter callouts correct?
In that case I would simply build your specs using the included ASME catalog even though it's all imperial
and when it comes to setting up a project just select "Metric" unit settings and then select "Inches (Mixed Metric)" for the reporting of nominal diameters.
Plant 3D will handle the conversion of units for you. See the pic below.
