Linking AutoCAD Object Data Table to Access table

Afternoon all,

I've been trying, so far without success, to effectively link an object data table (note: not block attribute data) with an external access database. I've followed all the procedures as I understand them, i.e. going through dbconnect, creating link template, etc, but I'm still floundering as to how to either display the data from access within an existing object data table or, link my object data to an access table via a common field.

I'm currently running Map 2004 but need to repeat this process on a laptop with Map 2000i.

Can anyone offer any help, or suggest or recommend an online guide?
