show ducts under other ducts dashed
How do you set up a view so that when one duct is above another, the lower duct shows up as a dashed line? See the attached screenshot, in the view on the left this works but in the view on the right it does not. I've searched through every view setting I know of and cannot figure out what is different between the 2 views that makes it work in one but not the other. Thanks.
Re: show ducts under other ducts dashed
It's doing a bit of hiding because the duct is clearly being broken.
What are these settings in the view where it doesn't show correctly?

Re: show ducts under other ducts dashed
Those settings are the same in both views.
Re: show ducts under other ducts dashed
Just thinking out loud of what you might check...
View ranges?
Elevations of ducts?
Object overrides?
Have you tried creating a new view of the same level? I've seen a few instances where a view needed to be recreated because it somehow got corrupted (not sure if that's the right term for this situation).

Re: show ducts under other ducts dashed
Turns out it is an override thing. Thanks Matt. I narrowed down the problem by making a view template of the good one and applying it to the other one and after narrowing down what to include in the template to make a difference to the issue at hand I realized the difference is it only works when the phase filter is set to "show all", and this is because I put overides on the other phase filters that we use on our sheets so that new work shows dark on new work plans, etc. If I alter the phase filter to show new work to "by category", it works with that filter as well. So now I need a new solution to making the ducts dark on the new work plans, but as it turns out the "by category" lineweight for ducts is the same as what my override was (5). So I lucked out!
Re: show ducts under other ducts dashed
Are you using phases?
I have seen this happen with phase graphic overrides (this might have been fixed in 2010)
I also noticed that the "not working" view was underslab.
Is your view range looking (negative) to see the duct or is it in your primary range?
Re: show ducts under other ducts dashed
Actually I can still override the lineweight, I just can't override the pattern. I had it set to "solid" but if I leave it alone it is solid unless it is beneath something in which case it is dashed.
