Re: Inverse Xref Clipping
Not sure about 2007, in 2008:

Invert clip - last option

Re: Inverse Xref Clipping
You're right ... it's only available from 2008 on. There's 2 approaches to do this in earlier versions:
- Make a copy of the XRef object @0,0. Then XClip one of them with a left-hand "C-like" closed polyline and the other with a right-hand. Basically making the 2 halfs of the surround.
- Make a convoluted closed polyline around the entire XRef and coming in doing the smaller "hole" before returning out to the bigger "border" close but not exactly on the line coming in.
See attached for a simple example of the polylines in the 2 options.

OK...Thanks for that, Gang
Re: Inverse Xref Clipping
I'm a little new to the 2008 version. Is it possible clip an xref with an inverted clip AND a normal clip? I have an xref file that contains all of a jobsites embedded conduit, several hundred acres in size. I only want to see an area local to where I'm working but I would also like to use an inverted clip to clip out a piece that obstructs the area that I'm working on.
Possible?
Re: Inverse Xref Clipping
i dont think its possible to have two clips

Re: Inverse Xref Clipping
You can do it with some work.
Draw in the clip boundaries you want. Then draw two parallel lines very close to each other. Trim appropriately. XCLIP and Select Polyline as boundary.
See attached.
Re: Inverse Xref Clipping
There's 2 other options:
- Place a wipeout over the internal "hole" you want to cut out; or
- After doing the external xclip, create a block of the clipped xref, then xclip the block with the hole.
