dynamic block with double door
Hi there,
I've been using my parametric blocks for doors & windows for quite some time now, but fail trying to make a double door block.
Just a wipeout with stretch functions for width and wall thickness, with both door swings scaling identical when stretching. It would be even cooler to be able to make both doors non-symmetrical.
After fiddling with it for a couple of hours, I got stuck. Can someone point me in the right direction please? File is attached.
Re: dynamic block with double door
I think if you move the Distance1 stretch parameter to your top line, the doors will stay "attached" to the top line. The issue where it is currently is the scale action is using the start point of the Distance1 parameter as the base point to scale the doors.
To do non-symmetrical scaling, you would need another stretch parameter. You would then need to set the start point of the two stretch parameters to be the point the doors meet. That is how I would initially handle it. I don't handle doors on a daily basis, so I am not certain that is the proper workflow for that feature.

Re: dynamic block with double door
Thanks Opie, it sounds soooo obvious now, I tried about everything except that. It works, but when alternately using the stretches for width and length, the swing directions get messed up again. I'm sure it has something to do with the order in which the different actions are assigned but I can't figure it out.
Re: dynamic block with double door
Only add items you need to make changes to in your selection sets for each action. That means you need to remove the Distance1 parameter and grip from the Stretch action associated with Distance2. Also, your Stretch1 action needs to have a Distance Multiplier of 0.5 to keep the center line in place.

Works perfect now :)
Many Thanks for helping me out with this.
