Default Running 2010 with 2009 Installed

My office just recieved our copy of 2010 and have a quick question for everyone who already have it installed. To prevent a legacy issues or save back problems for the moment, I would like to leave 2009 installed and use 2010 until I believe I have it down pat. I did the same with 08/09 and had no troubles doing so. Has anyone have them installed side by side and have any issues with them working that way?

    Thanks Matt

Do you use Vault? If so it won't work. the 2010 install changes the vault version and 2009 can't see it anymore.

Other than that and the file format switch it shouldn't be a problem.

With this in the Subscription part of the Autodesk web site,

    2. What is the "previous version use" license term?
While on subscription, you are welcome to continue to run previous versions of the software concurrently with the latest release under certain conditions so that, for example, you can prevent production delays.

I take it you need to be on subscription to do what your doing.

We have the subscription so that's not a problem. I just wanted to make sure that the two versions wouldn't try to wipe each other out and cause untold issues down the line.

I have 2008, 2009, and 2010 all running happily (and sometimes concurently) side by side.

As far as the vault comment goes, there should be a patch for 2009 that will allow it to run on Vault 2010 available soon.

That requires that the server be upgraded to 2010. Atleast that was the case with the 08/09 conflict. 08 could be updated but the server had to have 2009 vault installed first.

I've had versions 2007, 2008, 2009, and now 2010 installed and so far have had no problems. Typically I run multiple versions to finish out projects, while new projects get started on the newer versions, so I usually have the last three versions installed at once. DWG file formats, I believe, will be the biggest issue.

    Hope this helps.
