    Default Disabling Mtext Features

Is there a way to disable the Mtext features, ie the highlighting of all of the text which causes delays in opening the text to look at?

There has to be, because my text doesn't highlight upon opening! I just don't know how to turn it on or off.

IME, it varies with acad version. Some versions open the editor in overtype mode and some in insert mode. ~shrug~
Even in insert mode, some versions place the insert cursor at the beginning of the text, some don't.

Tools --> Options --> Selection. Click "Visual Effect Settings ...", then "Advanced Options".

Oh sorry ... you mean inside the MText editor? That's news for me!

    Thanks.
This also is what I am looking for long time.
    Another question:
How to turn off the single-line text pre-selection in text edit window (ddedit)?

NFC ... sorry ... there's no way (at least that I know of) .... same thing with MTEdit it always deselects the text and places the cursor at the start, while DDEdit selects the entire text.

I'm not sure what versions jaberwok's talking about ... must be something new or a vertical I haven't seen. MText always opens the MTEditor, while DText always opens the DDEditor ... so it depends on if you've got muli-line or single-line text ... at least that's how I understand it

To get around this I usually use one of these methods:
    • In DDEDIT, press home or end to deselect the text and move the cursor to the start or the end (respectively).
    • In MTEDIT, press Ctrl+A to select the entire text.
