Default Copying Objects takes avery long time!

Hey guys, long time view first time poster. Your advice has helped solve all my ACAD problems......until now! It is just in one dwg but every time I copy an object it takes maybe 3 or 4 minutes to come up, in which the program does not respond.
This is very frustrating as I have a few hundred trees to copy and little time!
    HELP!

    Stats:
    ACAD 2008 Full
    Vista

    Thanks in advance

Welcome to AUGI & congrats on your 1st post.

There could be something re the "trees" you're copying which makes them difficult to select. E.g. hatching inside them, too much detail, 3D? Are they all blocks? Are you using annotative scales (especially with hatching)?

What happens if you set HIGHLIGHT=0? And the Selection Preview in Options/Selection turned off.

Thanks for replying. It does not matter what the object is, it could be as simple as a polyline.
I tried both highlight and selection preview and neither made a difference.
If I use 'CTRL+SHIFT+C' it happens, if I use the CP command it is fine?

It just happened to me again in another drawing when I copied an object from one drawing to another.

    Any other ideas?

It's probably junk files from previous crashes, or an Audit on the problem files.
Close any autodesk programs, and do a search for *.ac$;*.err;*.dmp & delete them. Probably a defrag of your PC wouldn't hurt. Restart ACAD, open the problem file & type in Audit then Y to fix any errors.

Let us know if this solves it.

You can try to check your scalelist and reset it.

Try purging registered applications. Type the following at the command line (beware the minus prefix so the dialog doesn't open):
    Code:
    -PURGE
    R
    *
    N
