    Default Region to Polyline

How to convert a region into polyline.
When I tried to make boundary for an ellipse segment in an object it converts into region.
    Any solution for it.?

I dont think you can with an ellipse, you could try offsetting the ellipse 1 unit out, then 1 unit back in to get a spline approximation of the ellipse, and then in 2009 bonus pack 1 and later, convert the spline to a polyline, or just use flatten on the spline to convert it to a polyline.

Thanks for you reply and suggestion.

But my need is to convert a region into closed polyline. How?

Explode the region and then use PEDIT to join the lines up into a closed polyline.

If you convert an ellipse to a region then explode the region you get an ellipse and you cannot explode an ellipse unless PELLIPSE was set to 1 before the ellipse was created.

So, explode the region(s) to ellipse(s). Wblock the ellipse(s) to a temporary file and delete the region(s)/ellipse(s) from the working file. Open the temporary file and save it in R12DXF format - this will convert ellipses to polylines. Close the temporary file. Re-open the temporary file and save it normally (as dwg) then insert it into the working drawing.

or offset to one side than offset back.

    Which gives you a Spline.

which is easily converted to a polyline using 2009 bonus pack 1, 2010, or the flatten command.

    Bonus packs require subscrption.
Vanilla 2010 doesn't do it but Flatten is good. ^5

try the _splinedit command, there is now an option for convert to polyline, you specify your precision and now have a polyline.
