We are trying to set up a render farm to do DBR of single frame images. We don't think backburner can do this. Anyone have any ideas? ReMaFo?

You are right. Backburner isn't involved in DBR and can actually be problamatic if it's being used at the same time. We typically have to take nodes off the render farm to use them in a DBR rendering (no conflicts). I'm assuming that you are using Mental Ray, so I'll use that as the example. It's very similar with VRay.
1) Under the Processing tob on the Render Dialog box, open up the Distributed Bucket Rendering rollout.
2)Check "Distributed Render"
3) Click on the "Add" button
4) Hopefully you only have to do this once. It also may require the "//" in front. I
t's been a while, so I appologize if I missed something. Anyone chime in if I did. You may test it on one workstation first to see if it picks up. Somethies it take a few minutes to load the file depending on size, so be patient.
Good luck!
Just one thing to add..You can send DBR jobs through Backburner using VRay. The jobs have to be sent to a machine that has the licence. If you choose a render slave with only the network render installation it will only use its own buckets. Hope that makes sense.
