Default 2010 Detail Family - cannot set the keynote file

I am creating a detail family. While editing the family I want to set the keynote number. I go to family types and the usual dialog is displayed. I can type in the keynote number but if I click on the little box to the right (with three dots in it), it comes up with error "unable to load keynote data ..." . While still in the family , how do I set the keynote text file for the family so that I can pick the keynote number from the list. ? I could do this in 2009. In 2010 they have taken away the settings menu, and I dont see an equivalent on the ribbon.

True. But there is no "keynoting" on the drop down below "ribbon- manage settings" so How do I select the appropriate keynote file?

On the annotate bar, click the little arrow on the
Tag Panel and you will find the keynote settings.

I am editing a family. I am not in a project. The only choices I have on my ribbopn are:
    create / insert / modify / view / manage
"Manage settings" does not have keynotes.
Create has an "annotate" panel for text and spelling and the little arrow there invokes properties of text.
I cannot find "keynoting settings" while editing the family. I suspect that this is "2010 removed functionality".

RAC 2010 - Ribbon -in Project Environment.(not family editor).
tab = Annotate - Tag tab drop down box - Keynote Settings.

The file is found (default path for non network installations mainly):
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AutoDesk\RAC 2010\Metric Library\RevitKeynotes.txt (will have your local country acronym before the txt extension).

You can assign keynote to family file in project environment then save out.
I could not access from inside family editor either.
This will at least get your keynote attached for now.

Thanks Trombe. It worked in 2009 but they have deleted that functionality in the 2010 version. Another example of something autodesk broke in the conversion to 2010.

    Hi,
I am probably not the guy for this, but it could be a bug.
I also checked the User Guide trouble shooting advice and I had already done the stuff but got no result.
You cannot establish how and where, the Family Editor, goes to look to find the Keynote file.
The help suggests once the Annotate - Keynote Settings - Browse etc., is sorted out as for the file location, all should be well.
It also seems to make no difference if you set the location to Absolute ( I did not try Relative as I do not have multi users !!).
Maybe someone well experienced with attaching these beyond the basics can advise where the Family Editor goes to look, for the Keynote File and how you can set that other than as recommended above.

    cheers

It is my best guess that the Keynotes etc is only mean to be accessible from the Project File, not from within the Family Editor. That way the user can adjust the Detail Component Keynotes "on the fly" from within the project & get the benefits of it not being hard coded into the Detail Family.
