I would say that i am a moderate to low level Trekkie but may have jumped a level after watching the movie. What a great flick. It totally brought that whole space fascination back for me. Now if i could only find some time to model a space ship....

Yeah, I completely agree on the effects. They took it to a whole new level with that movie. Growing up watching STTNG I admit I was a little miffed at the whole idea of a reboot, but after seeing the movie I forgive them. The effects were so brilliant and imaginative, it really wins a lot of respect from me. I've seen it twice - still want to see it again before it leaves the theaters. I hope they follow through on their plans for a sequel!
Yeah, I was a little hesitant at first because of storyline issues, but forgive them for any misdoings... great flick. Very good cg also. Seamless.
CG Society just did an article on it too. Sounds like it was real messy getting all the CG merged with the live action.
