Default Placing elevations - view is very short?

Why does it seem like every single interior elevation I place on my current project shows up initially with the crop region only from the bottom of slab to top of slab? The crop region is the width of the room, but only 4" tall until I drag it upwards. I thought it was automatically supposed to extend up to the ceiling height above.

I have had this occur before... back in 9.1... and only in one project. I could never reproduce the error outside of that project... We were using 1/4" finish floors on top of a default floor system... And certain elevations would do just what you described - show only as high as the 1/4" floor... Sections were messing up in that model also...
...Sorry I have no insight. We would just create the sections/elevations elsewhere and rotate them in place...

It happens to me on several occasions. On this particular project, there are no separate floor finish elements. The height of a new elevation view equals the height of the floor slab - from -4" up to 0". There are no other levels near the 0' - 0" elevation. So annoying.
