Default Clash Detection results in Freedom

I have published my clash detection in Navisworks 2009 but when I open the file in Freedom, it does not show me any of the clashes. In fact, the clash detection toolbar does not even show up. Am I doing something wrong or overlooking something or is that functionality not possible in Freedom.

That functionality is not possible in Freedom at all.
In fact, the only think you can do in Freedom is look around the model - spin it around, fly around, etc. I don't even think you have the ability to hide things in Freedom.

Basic visual exploration is what you get when you buy Navisworks Review. In that product you can start to hide things and 'maybe' turn on section planes, etc. But I still don't think you can see collisions unless you use Manage. That's what my reseller tells me anyways.

    Hope this helps.

    The help file indicates:

Freedomâ„¢ is a cut-down free version of NavisWorks. It is designed to work with NavisWorks Publisher by allowing you to distribute published .nwd files to your clients and other non-CAD users for free and easy viewing of your models. Simply publish the .nwd file, give them Freedom, and let them walk around your model.

The available functionality includes all of the navigation modes; the view all, perspective and orthographic modes; ***********collision detection***********, gravity, auto crouch and third person modes; display of hyperlinks; and restoring viewpoints and animation playback.

The buttons on the Freedom interface work in the same way as the NavisWorks buttons

So, is the help file wrong?

Collision detection is not the same as Clash Detective.
Collision detection is when you are walking around the model and you collide with an object - wall, door, table, etc. If you have collision detection enabled, the object will stop the camera (or avatar if you are in third person mode). If you do not have collision detection enabled, you will pass through any solid objects.

Clash detective is what you use to find clashes between disciplines.

The Autodesk nomenclature in the help files is murky at best. If it's any comfort, the help file threw me the first time too.

I can't believe I missed that. Thanks for the clarification.

What I have found to be effective is to publish the clash test results as viewpoints...those will save into the .nwd for Freedom use.

Save clashes as viewpoints. These viewpoints can be viewed in Freedom. However, it will not hide other elements so you will have to follow the path that was given to you in the clash report to find the items that clash.
