Since the toothpaste is out of the tube, here is a little utility to switch back and forth between the UIs. It's written in AutoHotKey. Source code and its EXE are included.

I have had exactly the opposite experiance. With the ribbon both trim and align are a gamble. Trim will refuse to see objects and allign will refuse to see edges. NP in Classic Mode.

    Thanks Truevis,

Nice little app to simplify switching (not that I will do it all that often )

This thread should be required reading for all students of computer science, or anyone who is learning how to create a user interface, or especially any business major who is considering a career in the software industry.

    Hey jcoe,

have you tried using the shortcut key for this ?
For Trim-Extend Multiple, I have added "TM" in 2010 Ribbon UI, but why not try this for your Classic set up ? worth a go ?

And for those curious as to the key to switch to the classic UI, just have a peek in the .ahk file from the zip in Notepad.
