Default Producing an animation from a lot of frames

Does anyone out there have any experience with creating movies from a large number (3000+) of frames? I have found that after loading a few hundred files, the RAM player in VIZ 2005 stops working properly, and won't save the animation file.

I am attempting to create (from frames) a similar quality AVI (800x600) that I would get if I ran the animation on a single machine, straight to AVI.

    All input appreciated!

I never use Ram player, so I'm probably not the best one to help you here, but how much ram do you have, it really sounds like a ram issue.

Do you have access to a compositor like AE or Combustion or an NLE like Premier or Vegas? Any of these software programs hand can large still image sequences.

Not a solution, only a way
use the RAM play to create 'clips' based on
say 1500 frames(images) then in your
video editing software Movie Maker or
Premier for example drag those small clips into
your project before rendering the final video
    output.

Or look into increasing physical ram
and or adding a second harddrive for
    your virtual memory (swap file)

I'm running 1.5 GB of RAM right now, might up that a bit more. I'll check into the programs you mentioned, because I think that that is the way to go. We'll probably buy one if it can do the job. Do you have links for some of these programs?

hmmm. 1.5 gb should be enough, but like i said I've never used ram player.

Personally I use Sony's Vegas 5 + DVD for my NLE (Non Linear Editor) and Discreet Combustion 3 as my motion graphics, compositor, and effects tool.

Combustion is tightly integrated with viz 2005 and even more so Max 6.0/7.0, and also uses backburner for network rendering. It's a great tool to have if you do a lot of animation.

Here are the links to Adobe products:

    Adobe Premiere:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/main.html

    Adobe After Effects
    http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/main.html

They both have 30 day try-out copies you can download. I personally like using After Effects because it is easy to add motion picture style captions and sound effects. I usually export an animation from Viz or Max as a Targa sequence, touch up in PhotoShop, then render .avi and .mov files from After Effects.

I cant get access to the NetRender engine on my Viz 2007!
I had started the Manager first, then the Server and the Monitor.
My computer was on both lists, as a manager and a server.
As soon, I said “Render”, the error came up.
I think, there is a plugin missing (see jpg.)! But which one is missing?

VirtualDub is probaly one of the best free tools out there....will do what you need and more!!!! Anyone doing any kind of animation work should have an NLE....i would suggest the Adobe Premiere and After Effects combo!!!
