Default Grey hatch underneath material hatch

Is it possible to make a wall existing and have it have a grey tone but also keep the material hatches and divisions. ie: a cavity wall that has a grey tone over the entire wall but still being able to see the materials within the wall?

There is no mechanism in Revit for "layering" hatches. Therefore I'd venture to say the answer is No.
