    Question MEP Reference Manual

Does any know of a reference manual that is NOT Autodesk's 2010 Revit MEP Official Training Coursework? Autodesk's isn't too bad, but from the manuals I've seen, outside publishers have more "real world" approaches.

I have looked for some Revit MEP manuals but just not sure what manuals are worth buying for the company!

    Any suggestions?

Wiley/Sybex is working on a Revit MEP book but it isn't finished yet. AUGI members Don Bokmiller, Brian Gemmell, Joel Londenberg are listed as the authors at this time.

Fantastic! I was on the right track....that company was one of the few companies I emailed to get more information from about a Revit Manual! They stated that it would not be published until November!

Good to know AUGI's own are authoring a usable manual!

    Thanks for the quick response!

I'm sure you could work something out with one of the fine AUGI members in order to have it shipped to you when its released here...

Its good to know that a manual is coming out with real world approaches...

a revit mep manual? really....what i did when there was no real collective knowledge was create my own with posts from all the fine people here (and in the arch forums, blogs, and revitcity) and categorize it in a wiki on our intranet.

Don, Brian and I are sad to announce that we won't be finishing this book.

Autodesk sets a hard schedule, with their habit of releasing updated versions of it's software every year. The publisher, Wiley/Sybex, is stuck following this schedule in order for the book to be viable. After all, who would buy a 2009 dated book when they have a shiny new 2010 software box on their desk.

We got off to a late start, so even dividing the task in to three portions, we found we could not meet the writing schedule required. It turns out that writing a book is a very hard thing to do

The three of us and the publisher all hope to have a book ready for the next release.

I'm disappointed to hear about the book. Its bad for me, but even worse for all the newbies that I train. What do you think is the most frequently asked question in my classes?

    "What book do you recommend?"

Then I have to explain to people (who are equally as baffled) that there isn't one.

The tutorials are ok but do not represent real projects. The AOTC is a joke. That leaves you with the internet and the hope that the guy in the next cubicle understands Shared Parameters better than you.

    Unhappy Re: MEP Reference Manual

So, if you guys aren't finishing the book, who is? Is Wiley dropping the whole thing....maybe you don't know.

The book will be finished, just not for the 2010 version of the software.
